A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Tony Okocha has revealed why the party withdrew its petition challenging the outcome of the governorship election in Rivers State.
Okocha in a statement over the weekend said the party may have found out that it was a waste of time and resources knowing that grounds of challenge are weak.
He also said another reason why Cole was abandoned at the Tribunal may have been due to his alleged anti-party activities.
“It is rare to have a party withdraw a petition and leave the petitioner to his fate. Many reasons abound. First, the party may have found it’s a waste of time and resources knowing that grounds of challenge are weak,” he said.
“Secondly, the party may have been displeased by the candidate’s infidelity to the party,” he added.
