An NYSC member, Rhoda Odeyale, who was abducted in Rivers State, has been released after Nigerians collectively raised and paid a ransom of N1.5 million.
Rhoda, a graduate of the University of Ilorin, was reportedly kidnapped on Wednesday while traveling to Port Harcourt. The abductors initially demanded a ransom of N2.5 million from her family.
Unable to raise the full amount, her family sought help from her former schoolmates, who launched a public appeal on social media to gather the funds.
In a statement, one of her former classmates involved in the fundraising effort confirmed her release after the reduced ransom was paid to the kidnappers.
