Rebuttal To A False Endorsement Claim In The Media Towards My Person & My Office.
My attention has been drawn to a false and unethical claim by a journalist on the social media space yesterday, claiming that I had endorsed a candidate of a certain political party.
Well, it is not only sad but also disturbing, to see that most people we expecting to be very enlightened and abreast with the workings and the huge role of the NYCN in our society, still doesn’t know the half about our modus operandi and functionality.
To this end, I want to give a little brief about what & why we were captured with the said governorship candidate. We were on a routine visit as a body as required, to see the said candidate as part of our obligations to discuss and canvass the interest of the Rivers youths with all those who intends to steer the ship of our great state. Because the sufferings and what we have witnessed from those in charge in the last seven years can only be best described as a nightmare we wish to urgently wake up from.
It was however unfortunately and unethical for anyone to misconstrue this patriotic and transcendental service to mean a political endorsement. However, as a recognised youth group, we have seriously mobilize, educated and encouraged our members to freely exercise their franchise regardless of the visible maneuvering and arm twisting of citizens by the current government. We have also advised them that in doing so, they must resist any temptation of condescending to the deceptive bait being used by the present guard to lure unsuspecting youths to vote against their conscience. Because doing so is what has kept us were we are today with no employment nor empowerment for we the youths of Rivers state. A situation that is aliens to us and inimical to our development.
I therefore want to use this medium to ask everyone to disregard such misleading narrative about such purported endorsement, and focus on the mountainous task of changing the current odious government ahead of us.
I urge all Rivers people to stay focused and committed to the task before us in ushering in a brown new Rivers state of our dreams.
