The Rivers State chapters of the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress has urged workers to ignore the court injunction secured by the state government and come out in their numbers for the planned Tuesday protest.
Leader of the NLC in the state, Beatrice Itubo and Austin Jonah of the TUC, who made this known in a joint statement in Port Harcourt yesterday, said the court order restraining the planned protest and strike action is false.
They said “since the inception of this present administration, some workers have remained on one grade level without promotion.
“There have been no employment opportunities for Rivers people and the state government has refused to implement the new national minimum wage,” they added.
