The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has warned of possible industrial action over the alleged harassment of its Rivers State chairman, Alex Agwanwor, by the police.
The labour union cautioned security agencies against intimidating Agwanwor following a petition reportedly written against him over alleged threats to life.
According to the NLC, the petition was said to have been submitted by the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).
The union expressed concern over what it described as harassment of its leadership and warned that any continued intimidation could attract serious consequences.
The NLC further stated that it would not hesitate to mobilise its members for industrial action if the alleged harassment of its state chairman persists.
