The Nigerian Army, have dismantled 13 illegal bunkering sites and recovered over 300,000 litres of stolen petroleum products during joint operations conducted between January 20 and 26, 2025.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Acting Deputy Director of 6 Division Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma.
According to Danjuma, three illegal refining sites were dismantled at Obiafu Oil Field in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) of Rivers State. The sites, operating in clusters, were equipped with 10 cooking drums, eight reservoirs, and two rolls of hose.
In a related operation, troops uncovered over 1,500 litres of illegally refined automotive gas oil (AGO) and dual-purpose kerosene (DPK) hidden in jerricans in Abalama Community, Asari-Toru Local Government Area.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to curbing illegal oil activities in the region.
