Chairmen of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) branches in Rivers State have condemned a query issued to Port Harcourt Branch Chairman, Mrs. Cordelia Eke, by the state’s Sole Administrator through the Ministry of Justice.
The April 25 query accused Eke of misconduct for co-authoring a communique criticizing alleged unconstitutional actions by the administration. NBA branch leaders called the move an attempt to intimidate Eke and suppress dissent, insisting she acted within her mandate as an elected NBA official—not a civil servant.
In a joint statement, the chairmen described the query as a violation of free speech and demanded its immediate withdrawal. They reaffirmed their commitment to defending the rule of law and resisting intimidation.
The statement was signed by NBA chairmen from Ahoada, Isiokpo, Degema, Bori, and Okehi branches.
