Hon. Kelechi Nwogu, member representing Omuma/Etche Federal Constituency, has vowed to resign if hia political family ever loses an election in the area, reaffirming his loyalty to his political mentor, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Nwogu made the declaration while speaking at an event in Etche Local Government Area, where Wike addressed supporters, highlighting the dedication of his followers during the 2023 general elections despite threats and intimidation.
“The worst person you can follow in life is an ungrateful person. I will never move ahead of my boss. A boss remains a boss,” Nwogu said, stressing that he would not compromise his allegiance.
He acknowledged the defection of some political actors to the All Progressives Congress (APC) but insisted that the people of Omuma and Etche remained united and steadfast in their political decisions, fully backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking at the gathering, FCT Minister Wike said his visit was to express appreciation to supporters who stood firm even when many believed his political career was over.
“I did not come here today to play politics. I came to say thank you. Even when people thought we were finished politically, you stood firm with us and with our leader, Chief Philip T. Gold,” Wike said.
He stressed the importance of gratitude, warning that ungratefulness brings negative consequences both spiritually and politically.
“When God does something for you and you thank Him, He blesses you more. But when you are ungrateful, you block your own blessings. The same applies to human beings,” Wike added.
Reflecting on the 2023 presidential election, Wike said his decisions were guided by fairness and justice, arguing that the presidency at the time should go to the South.
“In 2023, it was very difficult. Nobody knew what would happen, but I said it was not about party. It was about fairness and justice. Nobody is a second-class citizen in this country,” he stated.
Wike also announced that political activities ahead of future elections would commence in January, urging supporters to prepare.
