Prominent media personality Ibisaki Willie-Wills has written an open letter to Governor Sim Fubara, offering words of encouragement amid ongoing political challenges facing his administration.
In the letter, Ibisaki described the political opposition to Fubara’s government as a prolonged “insurgency” that began barely three months after the governor took office.
She acknowledged the recent rejection of four commissioner nominees by the state assembly, suggesting it may be part of a strategy to weaken the administration and stall developmental initiatives.
She wrote, “A state cannot move forward effectively without key appointments such as a Commissioner for Health to supervise the healthcare system and an Attorney General to defend the rights of the people. It is therefore quite obvious that despite the nominees having the qualifications suitable for those positions, they were still disqualified.”
Ibisaki encouraged the governor to remain steadfast, reminding him of the resilience he has shown over the past two years in withstanding political pressure. She added that the current setback, which leaves the administration without a full cabinet, would soon pass.
“Keep the faith. The storm is gradually coming to an end,” Ibisaki concluded.
The letter underscores the challenges facing Governor Fubara’s administration while highlighting support from members of the media community who continue to advocate for effective governance in the state
