A man identified as Promise Thompson has been convicted and sentenced to death by hanging for child theft and armed robbery by a High Court sitting in Port Harcourt.
The convict was standing trial on a three-count charge of armed robbery, kidnap, and child theft.
He was also accused of shooting one Chidiebere Ogbogu and stealing his five-year-old child identified as Chigoziri Ogbogu in Rumuolumeni, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area four years ago.
Justice Sika Henry-Aprioku, the presiding judge said evidence by the prosecution counsel proved the accused took the boy to Abia State and sold him to his syndicate who also sold the boy to another syndicate, in his judgement.
