Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission RSIEC, Retd. Justice George Omereji has said that he never directed Political parties to submit account details for disbursement of election grants.

Omereji said this in an interview today, while reacting to claims by Chairman of the African Action Congress AAC, in Rivers State, Mr. Progress Okpokuma.

Mr Progress had also alleged that the RSIEC Boss, told him that monies for political parties, had been released to the Inter Party Advisory Council,  headed by Amb. Desmond Akawor.

Omereji said there was no time he gave such directive, as the Commission is not bound by law to release grants to political parties for elections.

In the same vein the Inter Party Advisory Council IPAC, in Rivers State has denied receiving money from RSIEC, or the state government to disburse to political parties.

IPAC in an official statement today, called on the AAC Chairman to retract his comment or face legal actions.
