Some political parties in Rivers State have called on the state Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), to postpone the forthcoming local government elections slated for April 2021.
Chairman of the People’s Redemption Party, Fortune Onuigwe, disclosed this in a statement yesterday, on behalf of some political parties in the state.
He said the call to postpone the election became necessary, following the controversy that rocked the submission of forms and letters by some Political parties.
He also said the extension will allow parties resolve internal issues and exhaust all litigations.
Meanwhile, RISEC, has finally agreed to receive party primary forms from over 70 political parties in the state.
The commission had earlier refused to receive forms from the political parties, claiming that their names were not on the list of registered parties it received from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
