The Rivers State Police Command, says newly recruited constables and local vigilante groups will assist the Police in maintaining law and order during Saturday’s local government elections.
Spokesperson of the state Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni said this in a chat with journalists in Port Harcourt, on Thursday.
Omoni said the local vigilante groups have the right to arrest electoral offenders, and hand them over to the Police.
He urged them to be professional in the discharge of their duties, and operate within the confines of the law.
Omoni also assured residents, of adequate security, as the command is committed to ensuring a successful election, devoid of crises.
