The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has commended the State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), for conducting what he described as free and fair election that was devoid of violence.
The Governor, said this when he received the newly elected local government council chairmen at Government House, Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
He said the state electoral umpire, has shown that indeed elections can be conducted freely and devoid of violence.
He commended the security agencies for providing adequate security during last Saturday’s election, in the State.
In his remarks, the Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Allwell Ihunda on behalf of the chairmen, said the opportunity the party gave to them and the support from the governor contributed to their victory at the polls.
He said the election was free, fair, credible and violence free because of the capacity shown by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).
Ihunda also commended the Governor for his developmental strides across the 23 LGAs of the state.
