Rivers Federal Lawmaker, Hon. Farah Dagogo says financial autonomy for Judiciary, State legislatures and the third tier of government will usher in a new era for all arms and organs of government to be truly ‘responsive and responsible to the people.
Farah, who made this known in a statement, on Friday, said he has no regret voting for autonomy of the Judiciary, Local Government Councils and State Houses of Assembly.
The Lawmaker representing Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency of Rivers State in the House of Representatives, stated that the autonomy was a way of allowing governance to get to the grassroots.
According to him, Nigerians have been yearnings for ‘participatory and reflective government.
“The yearnings by Nigerians for ‘participatory and reflective government’, financial autonomy for Judiciary, State legislatures and the third tier of government will usher in a new era for all arms and organs of government to be truly ‘responsive and responsible to the people,” he said.
Farah, who also supported the Gender Equality Bill expressed dissappointment that it did not see the light of the day.
