A member of the House of Representatives, Solomon Bob, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, over remarks suggesting that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, had been “adequately compensated” by the current administration.
Bob described the comments as a distortion of facts, accusing the presidential aide of seeking attention and overstepping his bounds. He maintained that Bwala’s remarks were misleading and failed to reflect the minister’s contributions to the administration.
The lawmaker, who represents Abua/Odual/Ahoada East Federal Constituency of Rivers State, was reacting to statements made by Bwala during a television programme on Friday, where the presidential aide also insinuated that Wike was undermining the ability of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to govern effectively.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Port Harcourt and made available to journalists in Abuja, Bob, a known ally of the FCT minister, described Bwala’s comments as unwarranted and driven by ill intent.
According to him, the presidential aide deliberately diverted from the issue under discussion to introduce the claim that Wike had been “adequately compensated,” a term he said was vague and inappropriate.
Bob further argued that Bwala lacked a proper understanding of Wike’s role and contributions to the Tinubu administration, adding that public office should not be viewed as a reward system but as a platform for service delivery to the people.
