Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN in Rivers State – Joseph Obele has berated the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC for suspending its strike action.
Obele in a statement described leaders of the NLC as selfish and political, adding that Nigerians are vulnerable under them.
The statement reads,
NIGERIAN MASSES ARE VULNERABLE UNDER THE PRESENT LEADERSHIP OF NLC.
It is unfortunate that the present Leadership of Nigeria Labour Congress NLC are not people oriented, rather they are pocket oriented.
They are selfish and political.
I told my friends that the last industry action will be futility as usual. I told my friends to anticipate a midnight breaking News captioned ” NLC SUSPENDS STRIKE”.
Basically, The core Objective of the NLC are to protect, defend,
and promote the rights, well being, the interests of all workers and to continually enhance the quality of life and improve condition of workers.
Comr. Joe Ajaero led Executive Council is the big disappointment to the Nigeria masses. They are toothless Bulldogs. Nigerians don’t Trust them anymore and Nigerians will never trust them going forward.
Under the present NLC leadership, Nigeria’s inflation hits 27.33% as food prices tripled. It is ok for labour leadership.
At the moment the average price of PMS in Nigeria is selling at #650 to #750 depending on your location in Nigeria. It is ok for labour leadership.
The practice of engaging casual workers in Nigeria for permanent positions which is referred to as casualization is becoming a norm, yet NLC leadership are mute on such slavery condition of Service.
Under NLC an off spec PMS was imported to Nigeria that damaged thousands of machine’s and vehicles, no person was sacked, or either made to faced a disciplinary penal till date. That was capable for labour demand for the termination of the Minister of Petroleum and all top management of NNPC. NLC did nothing about that.
Shutting down Four refineries is a sufficient reason for NLC to embark on industry action by frowning at consistent importation of Petroleum products from the international market for so many years.
Bad roads, poor academic and medical funding doesn’t matter to the Nigeria Labour Congress.
Nigeria’s unemployment rate hits 4.1% in the first quarter of 2023. Millions of Nigerians are jobless, thus insecurity is becoming worrisome. Yet NLC seems it as ok.
We all condemned the attacked on the NLC president, but let it also be put on record that Police brutality Against the citizens is like a daily event in Nigeria, NLC has never convoke his Congress for any of such daily attacks. The alleged bully on the NLC president cannot be compared to the economic bully on the citizens of Nigeria. Nigerians are passing through untold hardship and they are gradually becoming hopeless.
I challenged the present Leadership of NLC to tell the general public one single achievement of their administration.
It is my prayer that the delegates of NLC at any subsequent Election will get it right by electing leaders that are selfless, people oriented and not Political.
