A Panel of Inquiry has been set up by the Controller of the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre, Alex Oditah to investigate the death of an inmate, today.
It was gathered that the inmate died after he was disciplined by another inmate for misconduct.
Spokesperson of the centre, Juliet Ofoni who confirmed the incident in a statement, said the act sparked a riot inside the centre, as many inmates were injured.
She noted that the injured inmates were later taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, after armed personnel brought the situation under control.
