The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Rivers State has denied rumors making the rounds that it conferred awards for voter education on some individuals.
There were reports that some staff of the commission had conferred awards on King Ateke Michael Tom as an INEC Ambassador for Voter Education and some others.
The commission in a rebuttal yesterday dismissed the claims and dissociated itself from any of such award. It stated that the commission never approved any such award and is not aware of any.
It furthermore noted that the allegation is currently being investigated to verify its authenticity.
