The boat driver who was shot dead over the weekend along the Bakana waterway in Degema local government area of Rivers State has been identified as Owei Ibohlor.
The 47-year-old hails from Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
According to NigrInfo, his relative, Lolo Dokubo who revealed his identity, narrated how his body was found at the Bakana sand field and his boat missing.
He said the boat driver was killed by four youths from around the community and a suspect has been handed over to the Marine Police in Abonnema. He however urged the Bakana community to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice and the victim’s boat recovered.
The police have said that the investigation is ongoing.
