Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, will appear before the House of Representatives today, June 11, to defend the state’s proposed N1.481 trillion budget for 2025.
The presentation will take place before the Ad-hoc Committee on Rivers State Oversight, chaired by Hon. Julius Ihonvbere, as the state continues to operate under emergency rule imposed by President Bola Tinubu on March 18, 2025.
The budget, which was submitted to the National Assembly on May 22, outlines major allocations including N324 billion for infrastructure, N166 billion for health—of which N5 billion is earmarked for free drug distribution—N75.6 billion for education, and N31.4 billion for agriculture. The proposal aims to generate approximately 6,000 jobs.
The spending plan has already cleared second reading in both legislative chambers, with the joint National Assembly committee tasked with maintaining strict oversight of fiscal and administrative conduct during the emergency period.
