Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has vowed to resign if anyone can come out to say that he promised to make him/her governor of the state.
The governor disclosed this during a dinner to celebrate his award on “Infrastructure Delivery” by the federal government at the banquet hall of the state government house on Monday.
According to him, he drove all those who came to seek his consent to contest the governorship position of the state, including the speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ikunyi Ibani.
He stated that power comes from God, adding that no man gives power.
Gov. Wike revealed that the award is not just for him but, for people of the state, adding that he will continue to work till his last day in office and that no project will be left uncompleted.
The governor, explained that people keep asking him what the incoming administration would do, having executed numerous projects in the state. He said even if he spends forty years in office there would still be projects to be done.
Wike noted that he was leaving office a fulfilled man and commended Rivers people for their support.
The occasion was attended by former governor of the state, Sir. Dr. Peter Odili and his wife, Governorship candidate of the party, SIM Fubara and his running mate, members of the state executive council, lawmakers, leaders of the party, amongst others.
