The governor of Rivers State, Chief. Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike has reacted to claims by former governor of the state, Rotimi Amaechi to compensate the Igbo community for the alleged forceful takeover of abandoned properties said to belong to the Igbos in the 70s.
Responding to the comment by the former governor, Wike says it is a ploy to reignite old wounds by promising the Igbos properties. He said that the promise made by the former governor is dangerous, and that if the former governor really wanted to address the claims he raised he should have done so during his tenure.
Yesterday while speaking at an Igbo interactive session in Port Harcourt, Former governor Rotimi Ameachi said when elected into office, the government of pastor Tonye Cole would compensate Igbos whose properties were forcefully taken from in Port Harcourt after the war. He apologize to the Igbo community and assured them that the Rivers State Government under Tonye Cole would make restitution.
