The Rivers State Government says it has partnered with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) to create jobs and provide empowerment opportunities for women and youths across the state.
The Governor made this known in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary Onwuka Nzeshi in commemoration of this year’s International Women’s Day.
The statement highlighted other initiatives aimed at promoting women’s development, including the Women Economic Empowerment Programme, through which 1,000 women received grants of ₦50,000 each to support their businesses and livelihoods.
Fubara also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to empowering women and promoting gender equality as the world marks International Women’s Day.
He celebrated their strength, resilience and contributions to the development of Rivers State, Nigeria and the global community.
“As governor, I am proud to stand in solidarity with our women, recognizing their pivotal role in shaping our society.
“To the women of Rivers State, your tireless efforts in our communities, workplaces and homes inspire us all. Your courage and determination drive progress and prosperity,” the governor said.
He called for renewed commitment to creating opportunities that will enable women to thrive and reach their full potential.
“As we mark International Women’s Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to empowering women and promoting gender equality. To all women, I salute you. Your strength is our strength,” he added.
