The Rivers State Government has announced plans to begin a comprehensive verification exercise for all civil servants and pensioners in the state starting next week.
The exercise, approved by the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, is aimed at updating and sanitizing the government’s workforce records.
Speaking during a meeting with the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Nigerian Union of Pensioners at Government House, Port Harcourt, on Friday, Vice Admiral Ibas said the verification process is part of broader reforms to improve the administration of pensions and staff welfare.
He assured that new measures would be introduced to ensure timely access to pension and welfare benefits by eligible workers and retirees, eliminating unnecessary delays in the system.
