The Rivers State government has vowed to eliminate inflated contracts and ensure value for money as part of efforts to promote transparency and accountability in its procurement process.
This commitment was revealed by Lawrence Oko-Jaja, SAN, Chairman of the Governing Board of the Bureau of Public Procurement, during a press briefing in Port Harcourt after a meeting with the Bureau’s staff.
Oko-Jaja underscored the critical role of procurement in advancing the state’s development, describing it as a non-negotiable priority. To achieve this, he announced the establishment of a price intelligence department tasked with monitoring and regulating contract prices to align with market research and maintain acceptable standards.
