Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Solomon Abel Eke has promised to build fire stations at strategic positions, in the area.
Eke made this known during a meeting with owners of fuel stations in the LGA, yesterday. This is following an explosion at a gas station at Rumuodomaya, on Saturday.
He said workers of the council’s fire service were unable to respond to the incident, because none of them were on duty that night.
He noted that most of the fire stations have remained non-functional due to lack of funds.
Eke urged owners of fuel stations to set up internal fire fighters to help in fire fighting.
