The Chief Security Officer of Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Mr. Dickson says one of the passengers inside the bus hijacked by gunmen at Omerelu on Tuesday was shot dead.
The CSO in a chat with journalists Today said the gunmen entered through Umudiaga forest to carryout the attack.
He urged residents to remain calm as efforts are on to apprehend the suspects.
Meanwhile, four of the abducted passengers have been rescued by the Rivers State Police Command.
Spokesperson of the command, DSP, Grace Koko confirmed this in a statement Today.
She revealed that the victims were rescued after the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday deployed tactical unit to the area.
She noted that efforts are on to rescue others and arrest the suspects.
