Dismissed Police Officer, Sergeant James Imhalu has been sentenced to death by hanging for the murder of David Legbara, a commercial driver in 2015, by a State High Court, sitting in Port Harcourt.
The trial judge, Justice Elsie Thompson in her ruling today, described the dismissed Sergeant as a “serial trigger-happy” Police Officer that should not be allowed in the society.
She noted that the evidence against Mr. James showed that he intentionally killed the deceased at Wimpey Junction in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the State.
Meanwhile, stakeholders have hailed the Court ruling, stating that it would serve as deterrent to those who think they can freely take another’s life.
