A section of the popular Oil Mill market in Rumukwurushi, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State was yesterday gutted by fire.
Community Development Chairman of Rumukwurushi, Osi Nwosu who made this known in a statement said the cause of the fire was yet unknown.
According to him, he received a distress call concerning the incident and had to immediately call firefighters who reacted swiftly to put out the fire.
He revealed that there were no casualties but, properties including goods worth about N500 million were destroyed. He called on the government to come to their aide as the situation is beyond their control.
Meanwhile, traders at the market had appealed to the state government to assist them financially as they lost all their goods in the fire incident.
