Hon. Barr. Blessing Chigeru Amadi has distanced herself from a proposed constitutional amendment bill aimed at granting indigene status based on birth, prolonged residence, or marriage.
In a statement from her office, the lawmaker denied any involvement in the bill, refuting claims that she is a co-sponsor. She said she was neither consulted nor gave consent for her name to be associated with the legislation.
Hon. Amadi described the inclusion of her name as misleading and a misrepresentation of her stance, emphasizing her commitment to transparency, accountability, and adherence to due legislative process.
She has called on the publishers of the erroneous information to issue an immediate correction and urged the relevant House authorities to ensure the accurate documentation of legislative sponsorships to safeguard public trust.
