Niger Delta Activist and Labour party’s Rivers South East senatorial candidate, Dr. Douglas Fabeke has threatened to lead a one-million-man protest over the hike in petrol pump price in the state.
Dr. Fabeke who disclosed this in a statement in Abuja yesterday, said he is in touch with civil society organizations to join him in the protest.
He said, he would write to the state government, the Police, DSS and other relevant stakeholders over the issue, and if nothing is done, he would lead the protest for three days.
He wondered why filling stations in the state sell above the approved pump price of N185 obtainable in other states.
Elanhub observed that a litre of fuel is now been sold at N500 and N600 at some fuel stations while it is been sold at N1000 and N1200 at the black market.
The development has caused long queues at filling stations in Port Harcourt and its environs as motorists battle to get the product.
