The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a man identified as Innocent Chukwuma for allegedly using his social media account to advocate a military takeover in Nigeria.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama said on Wednesday that Chukwuma — who posts under the handle @TheAgroman on X — was traced to Oyigbo in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he was apprehended. According to Makama, the suspect posted messages calling for the removal of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the suspension of the government and support for a military intervention to “reset” the country.
One of the posts attributed to the account reads: “A coup in Nigeria is needed. Dispose of APC, suspend the Nigerian Government, and join the AES… Nigerians, the military needs your support now! Only them can save this country.”
Makama added that a source close to the matter told him Chukwuma is currently cooperating with DSS investigators as inquiries continue. The DSS did not immediately issue an official statement on the arrest.
