A commercial driver Today, escaped death with 18 passengers in his bus as they were attacked by heavily armed gunmen along the Emouha axis of the Kalabari Road in Rivers State.
The driver identified as Godwin in a chat with journalists said the kidnappers wanted to hijack the bus.
According to him, the hoodlums came out of a nearby bush and tried to stop him by shooting in his direction, but sensing danger, he kept moving.
Godwin who escaped with bullet wounds said the target of the kidnappers was to kill him.
“Their target was to kill me and destabilise my movement so that they can get the bus and my passengers. But God gave me wisdom, I was able to jump through the gallop and save everybody,” he said.
“I was the only person that sustained injury. But as soon as I reached there (destination), all of them dropped and went their way. They were only telling me sorry,” he added.
