The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned that he would publicly disclose the agreement he reached with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, should the governor fail to brief Rivers people on it.
Wike issued the warning on Wednesday during a stakeholders’ meeting in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State. He said the political sacrifices made at the national level had produced positive outcomes, unlike developments within the state.
According to the former Rivers governor, President Tinubu has fulfilled his commitments, pointing to his appointment as FCT Minister and the placement of several Rivers indigenes in strategic federal positions as evidence of the gains Rivers State has enjoyed under the current administration.
“If he does not tell Rivers people the agreement we had before Mr President, I will tell them myself,” Wike said.
He also cautioned political actors from outside Rivers State against interfering in its affairs, insisting that Rivers politics should be handled by those who understand its dynamics.
Wike explained that his visit to Eleme was to appreciate the people for their long-standing support, adding that backing President Tinubu had yielded dividends. He urged the community to sustain its support for the President and their political leaders as a new political season approaches.
