Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has declared that his administration will not be distracted by political attacks, insisting that understanding and clarity of purpose have kept the government focused and resilient.
Speaking at the New Year State Banquet held in Port Harcourt on Thursday, January 1, 2026, Governor Fubara said his administration had made history and would remain a reference point long after leaving office.
According to him, the survival of his government amid political pressures was rooted in faith in God and a firm commitment to governance.
“Those who put their trust in God can never be put to shame. That is the secret of our survival,” the governor stated.
Fubara noted that despite challenges faced in 2025, the administration emerged stronger, having learned valuable lessons from difficult situations.
Using a quote attributed to Julius Caesar, the governor said political distractions would not derail his vision.
“The only reason why the dog barks is when it doesn’t understand. We are not barking because we understand. We know where we are going,” he said.
He assured Rivers people that governance would continue with full force in 2026, pledging to recover lost ground and deliver on the administration’s promises.
Governor Fubara also expressed confidence that those who stood with his government would ultimately be proud of their decision, stressing that the journey, though tough, had strengthened the administration.
