The Police in Rivers State says a Police officer and a vigilante were killed today at Eberi-Omuma, Omuma LGA, following the breakdown of law and order in the various Local Government Councils in the state.
Public Relations Officer of the Command, Grace Koko in a press statement said the incident occurred when supporters of the two Political factions clashed over the tenure of Local Government Council Chairmen.
According to her to forestall more bloodshed Conventional police officers and anti-riot police officers have been deployed to ensure law and order across the state.
She urged law-abiding residents and visitors in the state to go about their lawful businesses without fear, stating that they are resolved to carry out their constitutional duty of protecting lives and property.
