Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Rivers State has described newly elected caretaker committee chairmen as usurpers, claiming what they are not.
ALGON in a statement by former chairman of Obio/Akpor council said the appointment is unconstitutional, unlawful and not known to the Rivers State Local Government Law.
They rejected the planned payment of their emoluments and allowances by the caretaker chairmen as directed by the governor.
He stated that the matter of the expiration of their tenure was still in court.
