RIVERS STATE – The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok Ete Ekwe Ibas, has emphasized the economic benefits of the ongoing Trans-Kalabari Road Project, describing it as a crucial intervention to alleviate socioeconomic hardships in riverine COMMUNITIES.
Speaking during an inspection tour on Monday, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibas visited the Trans-Kalabari Road Project site in Rumuolumeni Community and the Permanent Secretaries’ Quarters in Rumuokwurushi Community, both in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area. He underscored the importance of completing these projects, particularly the Trans-Kalabari Road, to enhance connectivity and economic growth in Rivers State and Nigeria at large.
“We are aware of the challenging terrain in this region, which hinders communication and movement between communities. Upon completion, this project will significantly boost the socio-economic life of the state and the nation,” Ibas stated.
He urged contractors to adhere to project timelines, noting that the state government has fulfilled its financial obligations. “We expect the contractors to meet the set deadlines, as the government has provided the necessary resources,” he added.
During his visit to the Permanent Secretaries’ Quarters, Ibas acknowledged the housing difficulties faced by civil servants and stressed the need for comfortable accommodations to improve workplace productivity. He assured that the quarters would be delivered on schedule to address these challenges.
The Administrator reaffirmed his commitment to fostering peace and development in the state, stating that the people of Rivers would be the ultimate beneficiaries of these initiatives.
