As part of activities to mark the opening of the 2024/2025 legal year of the Rivers State Judiciary, the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Simeon Amadi on Tuesday, granted pardon to six inmates from the Port Harcourt Maximum Correctional Centre.
Justice Amadi while conducting the goal delivery called on the National Judicial Council to encourage judges to pay more attention to criminal matters in order to decongest correctional facilities.
He also called on critical stakeholders in the judiciary system to collaborate in ensuring that inmates who deserve pardon get it seamlessly.
He also encouraged the released inmates to return to their families and become good ambassadors of the society.
