Fifty inmates standing trial at the Port Harcourt Maximum Correctional Centre have been granted pardon by the Rivers State Chief Judge, Justice Simeon Amadi.
Justice Amadi said the exercise is in compliance with the provision of section 34 sub-section 1 of the criminal justice law of Rivers State and the special provision act of the law of the federation.
He also said the exercise is part of the activities to herald the 2023/2024 legal year in the state as well as move to decongest Port Harcourt Maximum Correctional Center.
