Controller General of the Central Bank of Nigeria in Port Harcourt, Maxwell Okafor says with the new measures put in place, commercial banks have no excuse not to pay the new naira notes.
Okafor in a statement yesterday said they are in discussion with banks that have mobile ATMs to move them to areas where there are no banks for easy accessibility of cash.
According to him, four microfinance banks have been selected in the state to issue the new naira notes.
He also said they will monitor the process and ensure that the new notes get to Rivers people.
He appealed to Nigerians to be calm as measures are being put in place to make the notes accessible.
