The Rivers State House of Assembly on Thursday resumed plenary for the first time in more than six months, following the lifting of the state of emergency by President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday.
The Assembly, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, had been suspended alongside Governor Siminalayi Fubara when emergency rule was declared in the state.
Lawmakers reconvened at the Assembly complex in Port Harcourt to resume legislative activities, marking a significant step in the restoration of democratic governance in Rivers State.
