The Hon. Martin Amaewhule-led Rivers State House of Assembly has lauded President Bola Tinubu for signing the Federal University of Environment and Technology Bill into law. The newly established university will be located in Koroma/Sakpenwa, Rivers State.
The commendation followed a motion presented by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Dumle Maol, who represents Gokana Constituency. Maol praised President Tinubu for demonstrating exceptional leadership by assenting to the bill, which he described as a step toward addressing the long-standing environmental degradation suffered by the Ogoni people due to decades of oil exploration.
Maol emphasized that the specialized institution would bring significant educational and economic benefits to the Ogoni community and the entire state. He also acknowledged the contributions of Senator Barry Mpigi, FCT Minister Chief Nyesom Wike, and other stakeholders who played roles in the bill’s passage.
