Arch. Tonye Cole, Rivers APC Governorship candidate has described the gale of defections that rocked the party as “consolidation“.
Cole, during a radio interview in Port Harcourt on Monday, said that many persons left not because of any crises in the party, but for personal reasons.
According to him, Chris Finebone explained that he had to leave because he is the head of the family where the candidate of the PDP, SIM Fubara comes from, and noted that it was very difficult for him to continue in the APC.
On Tonye Princewill leaving the party: Cole said, Princewill made it clear that he could not continue in the party because of its Muslim/Muslim ticket, as it is against his belief. While George Tolofari explained that he had to go because he was yet to benefit from the system.
He stated that they had to respect their views and opinions.
Cole, also debunked claims that Dakuku Peterside might leave the party the same way Chris Finebone left.
According to him, despite the fact that Peterside and SIM Fubara hail from the same LGA, the former has looked at all the candidates and concluded that his candidacy will benefit Rivers people more.
