The APC in Rivers State has reacted to the signing of the Executive Order 22 prohibiting the use of premises, buildings and structures in residential areas in urban and non-urban areas as campaign offices by political parties without approval by Gov. Nyesom Wike.
The Order also prohibits the posting of bills or posters or any other material in unauthorized places.
Spokesperson of the party in the state, Darlington Nwauju in a statement Today said the order contravenes the 1999 constitution.
He said no state governor or tate House of Assembly has powers to legislate on an area that is not on the concurrent legislative list of the constitution.
According to him, it is laughable for Gov. Wike to tell the world that he wants his political opponents to come to him to get approval before rallies, conferences or meetings could be held.
