In the past one week, over 30 members of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, have left the party citing different reasons.
While many of them alleged that the high handedness of the former Minister of Transportation, Chibiike Amaechi is the reason they left the party, Tonye Princewill a former governorship aspirant said he dumped the party due to its Muslim/Muslim presidential ticket.
According to princewill, it would be difficult for him to defend the decision of the party to adopt a Muslim/Muslim ticket.
Those who have since left the party include,
Dr. Dawari Goerge , a former member of the House of Representatives.
Tonye Princewill, Former Governorship aspirant.
Sam Chigbo Eligwe, a former member of the House Representatives.
Former managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC); Ibim Semenitari,
Elder Chidi Wihioka, a former member of the House of Representatives.
Golden Chioma, a former member of the Rivers State House of Assembly and former factional chairman of the party.
Mr Marvin Yobana, former youth leader
King Tony Gboms, a chieftain of the APC in Obio Akpor Local Government Area.
Envronmental Right Activist, Mr Celestine Akpobari amongst others.
Former CTC chairman of Andoni Local Government Area, Hon. Barr, Owen Obediah.
Chief Friday Nkee-ee Numbari, a former member of the State House of Assembly.
Meanwhile the leadership of the party had described the resignation as a welcome development, adding that it would not affect the fortunes of the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.
