The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) loyal to former Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has called on those defending the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to uphold traditional Rivers values by respecting elder statesmen.
Speaking on Friday, May 2, 2025, factional APC spokesman Darlington Nwauju emphasized the importance of honoring leaders such as former Governor Ada George, widely regarded as a political godfather to many past and present Rivers leaders, including Peter Odili.
Nwauju criticized Wike’s supporters—whether motivated by loyalty or financial incentives—urging them to recognize the revered status of senior figures in the state’s political hierarchy. His comments come amid an ongoing internal party split, with Nwauju’s faction enjoying judicial recognition, while the rival group led by Tony Okocha, a close ally of Wike, maintains the backing of the APC’s National Working Committee.
