Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Chief Emeka Beke has dismissed threats by factional Chairman of the party, Chief, Tony Okocha to expel him and others from the APC.
Okocha, had during a press briefing threatened to expel Beke and some other leaders of the party over court cases instituted against the party.
Speaking, when he appeared on Channels TV Sunday Politics, Beke said Okocha does not have the power to expel anyone from the party, as he is neither the chairman or an executive of the party.
He stated that he remains the authentic chairman of the party in the state, as the Court reinstated him after he was illegally removed from office by the National Working Committee.
According to him, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike is behind his ordeal, revealing that he knew he was going to have issues when the National Chairman of APC, Abdullahi Ganduje called and advised him to reach out to Wike.
He also faulted the congresses conducted by the party in the state that produced Okocha as chairman, despite a court judgment stopping it, describing it as “Kangaroo congress.”
Beke alleged that 80 per cent of the people that participated in the Congresses were members of the PDP, noting that Okocha has no followers as he operates with people hired.rom different political parties.
On the defected Rivers lawmakers, Beke said they remain members of his party. He, However called on INEC to conduct by-elections to fill their seats.
