Hours after the chairman of Opobo/Nkoro local government area of Rivers state, Hon. Enyiada Cookey-gam denied involvement in the ALGON suit against Gov. Sim Fubara’s minimum wage increment, the chairman of Bonny has come out to say that she is not part of the suit.
The council chairman in a statement through the press secretary of the council, Boma Waribor said she is neither aware of the decision nor part of it.
The statement reads,
Since the early hours of today, an information regarded as rumour has been circulating the social media space purporting that the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Rivers State Chapter is establishing a law-suit against the Rivers State Governor, Amaopusenibo Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, over his recent promotion and increment of the minimum wage of Local Government workers.
The unsigned information would have been ordinarily ignored but for the sake of the unsuspecting readers, it is important to notify the general public that the Executive Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Dame Hon Anengi Barasua Claude-Wilcox, DSSRS, JP, is neither aware of the decision nor part of it. As a matter of fact, the authenticity of the information is strongly doubted, and it is believed that an investigation to determine the original source of the alleged suit is ongoing.
It should be noted that the Bonny Council Boss who has been up and about for the welfare of civil servants in Bonny LGA by constructing two separate civil servants’ quarters and attending to other peculiar needs of theirs cannot be a party to such anti-workers activity under any guise whatsoever.
Following Governor Fubara’s strong commitment to the welfare of workers which is in synergy with her personal conviction, the Bonny LGA Chairman has committed to strongly partner with the State Government for the overall benefit of the people, especially those in Bonny.
